Lionel Atwill (1885 - 1946) was an English actor who has played bit parts in several Universal Pictures films throughout the 1930s and 40s. He has appeared in at least five films that fall under the "Universal Monsters" franchise. His first genre film was the 1932 mystery thriller, Doctor X. He is best remembered for his portrayal of Inspector Krogh in the 1939 film, Son of Frankenstein, the first of four Frankenstein films that would star in. Atwill's Krogh was lampooned in Mel Brooks' 1974 comedy Young Frankenstein. His last horror film was the 1945 movie House of Dracula. He passed away in Pacific Palisades, California nearly a year later.
