The Deep Core Flux route was the name given to a hyperspace route that led from Coruscant to one of the few habitable regions of the Deep Core. The route was usually blocked by the mass shadow of a relatively large black hole (though not as large as the one at the very center of the Galaxy), which wobbled in and out of the way by the gravitational pull of a star cluster. The route is shrouded by vast nebulae, and is therefore undetected from navigational computers. Because of a curious gravitational setup, the black hole allows passage six out of thirty hours of the cycle. Because it is closed most of the time, it further evaded discovery by explorers and scientists.

  • The Deep Core Flux route was the name given to a hyperspace route that led from Coruscant to one of the few habitable regions of the Deep Core. The route was discovered by accident in 76 BBY, by a daring pilot in a new YT-1300. The knowledge of the hyperspace route was later passed to the Jedi Order in secret, in case it could provide a tactical advantage in a conflict. The Jedi were possessive of this information, only passing it on to the most trusted of allies. The route was discovered by Palpatine just before his election when a Jedi he was interviewing accidentally mentioned a wobbling black hole that led into a safe region of the Deep Core. He fed the information to Count Dooku during the Clone Wars so they could successfully kidnap the Chancellor for the period needed to put Anakin Skywalker in a new vital setup to further lure him to the Dark Side. When Order 66 was initiated, the knowledge of the route was lost to the Jedi. The route was also used indirectly for the Imperial Remnant to hide so that they could strike back at the New Republic after the Galactic Civil War settled. The first system along the most direct means of taking the route was not discovered by the Empire, however. Named the Insta system, a single large asteroid was used as the settlement for Prophit Delphiki's corporate business. When Jaina Solo traced Delphiki after a daring raid on Coruscant, she was lucky enough to follow the trail while the black hole was still not obstructing the route. After the time she returned, the route was known to the rest of the Galaxy, though it was not very useful. A large circling mass of dust encircled the black hole at immense speeds, and reached the space near the black hole's event horizon around 123 BBY. The polar ejection led straight into the path of the hyperspace route, and struck the Insta system around 26.5 ABY. The lightspeed particles, heated and energized by friction and angular momentum, were so intense that it temporally stripped the shields off of the Supernova II. The route was not safe for travel for about fifty years henceforth. Both Delphiki's evacuation and the resilient pod transporting the mind of Jaina Solo in C3PO's "body" were able to escape the second wave of the black hole's mass ejection, and most of the Sith Fleet that had attempted to destroy Delphiki was able to exit. A significant fraction of the starfighters, regardless of their protection by the Supernova II's shield, were destroyed in trying to escape. The route was seldom used afterward except for scientific studies.
