  • Fornax II was an uninhabited neigbor planet to Fornax I. In c.2262, Dr. Albar Exar and his wife, Shona, left Fornax I and established a scientific facility on Fornax II, which was under a protective, pressurized dome. Over the next six years, Exar performed numerous genetic experiments in the hopes of keep the couple's son alive, and eventually stumbling on a genetic duplicator which allowed for his son to be split into separate beings. In early 2268, the USS Enterprise visited the planet to obtain a sealed tape from Exar which contained all of his genetic research for transport to Starbase 10. Shortly after the Enterprise's departure, Exar fell into a coma and eventually died. Following her husband's death, Shona and her sons remained on the planet, at least for a short time. (TOS short story: "Ni Var")
