Brown played junior hockey with the St. Michael's Majors and won the Memorial Cup in 1961. He spent 1962-63 and 1963-64 with the Toronto Maple Leafs' farm club - the Rochester Americans before being sent to the New York Rangers in the Andy Bathgate trade in February, 1964. Starting in 1964-65, Brown became a regular with the Rangers, playing a solid defensive game. However, he blew his knees in the 1969-70 playoffs. He was traded the next season to the Detroit Red Wings and then finished out his NHL career with the New York Islanders and the Atlanta Flames.
