  • "The Blackout" starts with Chowder blowing out all the power in Marzipan City trapping Mung and Shnitzel inside a giant blender while Shnitzel has the toots. So he and Gorgonzola must go to The Tower o' Power while Avoiding the weirdos who only come out during blackouts to save Mung from Shnitzel and his deadly farts.
  • The Blackout occurred in June of 2008. A power surge happened in Sean and John Pendleton's apartment shorting out the motherboard of their computer. With no means to create or upload the comic, it went on hiatus until November. The characters just went on vacation to the La Brea Tar Pits. Gar fell in after looking in the tar. Upon rescue, he said he thought he saw himself drowning in the muck. It turned out to be his reflection.

  • Bernard Black (Dylan Moran) rushes to find Fran Katzenjammer (Tamsin Greig), as he has something important to tell her. However, when he finds her, he discovers that she has something equally important to tell him. After settling who would tell their story first by slapping each other, Fran explains that she saw her then-boyfriend, Peter (Wayne Morris), sitting opposite another woman in a restraunt. Bernard, who doesn't care, explains that he was ignored by his friends the day after he attended a dinner party with them, which saddened him deeply, and suspects that he did something to upset them, however cannot remember what it is. Manny Bianco (Bill Bailey), who is highly alert and on edge after overdosing on coffee and watching 'The Sweeney' all night after been given an espresso machine for his birthday, decides to solve Bernard's predicament as to what he did to upset his friends, Gerald (Hugh Parker) and Sarah (Elizabeth Marmur). With Manny's help, Bernard remembers back to the night before, and discovers that he got highly drunk, and was brought back to Gerald and Sarah's house by a policewoman. wever, he still remembers that he did something else. Suddenly, a woman screams from outside the shop. Manny, hearing the cry, rushes out to find a thief grabbing the woman's handbag. Seeing Manny, the thief flees, with Manny in pursuit. Manny returns empty-handed, however, spots the woman talking to a policeman, and tries to by-pass her. However, the woman sees Manny, and, mistaking him for a fellow officer, the policeman brings Manny to a police station. That night, Fran enters the shop in a neck brace, calling for Bernard. Bernard appears, with his arm in a cast, and asks Fran how she broke her neck. She explains that she, after learning about Gerald and Sarah ignoring Bernard and how much it saddened him, decided to ignore Peter. However, while looking away from Peter, she accidently walked onto a busy road and got knocked down. Despite her seeming fine, Fran was driven to hospital in an ambulance for tests, with Peter insisting on accompanying her. However, she still attempted to ignore him in the ambulance, looking in the opposite direction of him. When Peter tried to turn Fran's head towards him, it broke her neck. Meanwhile, Manny, still being mistaken for a policeman, arrives at the police station, and meets Inspector Barry Norris, and is asked to accompany him in an interview with a criminal. He is also asked to perform the 'Good Cop, Bad Cop' routine, which, after complementing the criminal on his 'beautiful eyes', frightens the criminal, known as Nogsy, into admitting his crime. Manny, still under the guise of a policeman, pretends that he has been working as an officer for twenty years and decides to retire, and leaves the station. Back at the shop, Bernard explains how he broke. He says that he, after not being able to bear not knowing what he had done, visits Gerald and Sarah, and asks them what he had done. They reveal that he had defecated through a wicker chair in the kitchen, in front of their son. He explained that he rushed from the house in embarassment, however, fell down the patio stairs, breaking his arm. Manny returns, and, accidently 'sits on himself' again. After he does so, he says in a high-pitched voice, 'That was a particularly bad one'.

  • Narromine, NSW Australia, 1983. One summer night when I was twelve years old, our cousins came to stay at our home. The adults went out for the evening, leaving me in charge of the other four kids. There were five of us: our two cousins, my sister and me, and my brother (nicknamed Mog) was the youngest at about seven years of age. We mostly watched TV and played Monopoly as the night passed, and later, a storm rolled in. It was not a particularly violent storm, but the youngest two were frightened by the thunder, wind, and the sound of the house groaning. A little frightened myself, I went through the house turning on every light in every room. The entire time, I was picturing something black following and watching me, hovering just above and behind me as I walked from room to room. With my neck hairs bristling, I ran back to the others in the warmly lit living room, and as I sat on the floor the power went off. At that very moment, there was a bright flash of lightning by which we all saw each other, wide-eyed and pale-faced. It was a scene from a nightmare, and one of our cousins let out a soft high-pitched cry. More lightning flashed and thunder cracked louder and louder. Occasionally the room was lit as if the morning sun streamed in, and we all saw each other in our fear. A real fear it was. Not just a childish fear of the storm and the dark, but the awful feeling I had earlier was on us all. We sat talking softly for a long time. The storm eventually calmed and the wind died down, but the house stayed dark. Although there was still some lightning and distant rumbling, Mog decided that the break in the storm was the perfect opportunity to go to the toilet. None of us would go with him. He was terrified but bravely left the room alone. Within a few minutes we heard the toilet flush and seconds later, his bare feet slapping quickly across the kitchen floor and into the living room. He sat quietly on the carpet with us and I could hear him breathing heavily. Another hour or so passed and the living room was suddenly lit from outside by the headlights of the family car arriving home. The grownups opened the door and came down the hall and into the kitchen where dad opened a cupboard and took matches and some candles. Soon the house was lit with dim, flickering light that threw dancing shadows up the walls and across the ceilings. Our cousins left with their parents, my sister went to her own room, and my brother and I went to our room. As we lay in our beds falling asleep, he told me that on his way back from the toilet, there was a flash of lightning that lit up the hallway. He described to me in great detail what he saw in that flash. The body of a little boy; dead and propped in a sitting position against the wall. It was gone when another flash lit up the hall.
