- Woody was Andy's favorite toy and even had a song up pretty horrendous friendship until another toy came with a design of the Cold War, with more sounds, non-care material and well used laser lights that could cause retinal cancer. Then Woody devises a sinister plan and throws out the window and rips one of his little arms as any of us would do with a new subject that we don't like (do not deny it, I know you did), but after the incident, he understands that there is space in the heart of Andy for all and should stop being a jealous pig (we'll let the pig piggy).

At the request of the other toys, Woody coordinates a reconnaissance mission to discover what Andy's new toys are, as everyone fears being replaced. To Woody's dismay, Andy receives Buzz Lightyear, a Space Ranger action figure complete with impressive electronic gadgets. He is instantly extremely popular with the other toys making Woody feel unwanted and jealous. To make matters worse, Buzz is under the delusion that he is a real Space Ranger and needs to travel back to his own planet and save the galaxy from his arch-enemy the Evil Emperor Zurg. As the days go by, Buzz seems to be getting most of the attention and Woody feels his world crumbling all around him especially when the posters on the walls, the pictures and even the bed sheets all change to Buzz and he ends up in the toy box instead of in the bed. And finally the next day, Buzz even gets his Andy's name on the bottom of his right boot with permanent ink, which infuriates Woody even more. When Woody chew Buzz out, they hear a laugh outside the window. Woody goes to the window with Bo and three other toys - Rex the T-rex, Mr. Potato Head, and Lenny the binoculars and see Andy's evil neighbor Sid Phillips and his dog Scud outside the window. When Buzz asks Woody and the others what they're looking at, Woody directs him to Sid. The toys tell him how he likes to torture toys for fun. They then watch him destroy a Combat Carl action figure. later That same evening, after hearing Andy is going to Pizza Planet for dinner and his mother will only let him bring one toy, Woody hatches a plan to knock Buzz behind Andy's desk using Andy's remote controlled car RC Car, but it backfires when Buzz gets knocked out of the window by a rotating lamp instead. Potato Head accuses Woody of attempting to murder Buzz out of jealousy and Hamm the piggy bank, Rocky Gibraltar the wrestler and Robot agree. Woody is almost punished before he is taken with Andy to Pizza Planet, but only because Andy can't find Buzz. While Andy's mother refuels the car at a gas station, Woody ponders how he can return to Andy's room without Buzz. Suddenly, he is confronted by Buzz (who stowed away on the car) and the two end up in a fight, leading to them fall outside the car, which drives off and leaves the two stranded. A bitter argument between them ensues, ending with Woody angrily telling Buzz once and for all that he is a toy, and not a real Space Ranger. But since Buzz still doesn't believe him, even calling him a "sad, strange little man", they go their separate ways. Then Woody spots a truck bound for Pizza Planet and plans to rendezvous with Andy there. Realizing that he will face the wrath of the other toys if he returns alone, Woody convinces Buzz that the truck is a spaceship and will take them to another one that can lead him home. At Pizza Planet, Buzz climbs into a rocket-shaped claw game machine full of little green squeeze toy Aliens, forcing Woody to clamber into the machine to try and rescue him. Instead, Woody and Buzz are then captured by Sid. That night, while in Sid's room, Woody and Buzz discover a group of Mutant Toys - a bunch of toys that Sid had taken apart and put back together in weird combos. The following day, after Woody is tortured by Sid, he desperately attempts to escape from Sid's house before Andy's family's moving day. After he and Buzz hide from Scud, Woody discovers Buzz in the bedroom of Sid's sister Hannah Phillips. When Woody approaches Buzz, his arm has broken off, and Buzz has realized that he is a toy after viewing a commercial and becomes a depressed burden to Woody. Woody goes to Andy's room and tells Bo Peep, Potato Head, Hamm, Slinky and Rex to let him in. Potato head refuses thinking Woody killed Buzz. Woody tell Buzz to come show the others he's with him but Buzz only toss up his detached arm. Woody tries to use to fool the toys but it backfires and they leave the toys to their fate. Afterwards the mutant toys reattached Buzz's detached arm to his body and then Sid comes in, traps Woody under a milk crate with a tool box and duct tapes Buzz to a rocket and plans to blow him up that day. However it starts to rain and Sid must blow up Buzz tomorrow. That rainy evening, while Sid sleeps, Buzz is still sad about being a toy. Woody tell Buzz that being a toy is better than a space ranger and that Andy loves him because of all his great features and that he's a cool toy and despairs that he himself now stands no chance of being Andy's favorite toy. Afterwards Buzz regains his spirits and pushes the tool off the milkcrate and frees Woody. However at that moment Sid wakes up and takes Buzz to be destroyed with the rocket. Woody them teams up with Sid's mutant toys and stages a mission to rescue Buzz. They go down to Sid's backyard and come to life in front of him. This terrifies Sid into running away in fear of his own toys. Buzz then thanks Woody for saving and they climb into the moving van, attracting the attention of Scud, who bites Woody's ankle. When Buzz sacrifices himself to save Woody by tackling Scud, Woody enters the van, pulls out RC and sends him out to rescue Buzz. However, he is then chucked out of the van by the other toys, who mistakenly believed that Woody was trying to get rid of RC. Luckily thanks to RC's remote, Buzz and RC manage to catch up with Woody and give them a lift. The three of them then drive after the truck. The other toys, having seen Woody and Buzz on RC, send Slinky out to save them. Slinky grabs Woody's hand in time. However RC's batteries run out, and Slinky is unable to hold on. Luckily Woody manages to ignite Buzz's rocket, and as they catch up, he manages to toss RC into the moving truck into Potato Head, just as he and Buzz go soaring into the air. Buzz manages to detach from the rocket by means of his wings, which slice the duct tape, and glide through the air until they pass the moving truck and land safely inside the car where Andy find them. At the end of the film, which takes place at Christmas, Woody and Buzz stage an reconnaissance mission to prepare for the new toy arrivals. As Woody wonders what gift may be worse than Buzz, Andy receives a puppy, much to his and Buzz's surprise and dread.
