| - Boromir was a valiant warrior known in Gondor for his greatness, having already achieved great merit in Gondor prior to the Council of Elrond. He is the eldest son of Denethor II, who was Steward of Gondor during the War of the Ring, and his wife Finduilas. Even the people of Rohan admired him, particularly Éomer. He is the older brother of Faramir.

- Boromir war ein Heerführer aus Gondor und Erbe der Truchsess-Würde von Minas Tirith. Er war der ältere Bruder von Faramir, Sohn von Denethor II. und dessen Frau Finduilas von Dol Amroth. Boromir war benannt nach dem früheren Boromir, der einst Statthalter von Gondor war und in den Jahren von 2480 Ithilien von den Orks zurück eroberte. Boromir war der von Denethor meistgeliebte Sohn.

La sua utilità all’interno dell’opera è talmente ampia che è l’unico della compagnia a morire di una morte orribile tra il primo e il secondo libro. - Boromir is the son of Denethor, Ruling Steward of Gondor, and the older brother of Faramir. Had things gone differently, he would have assumed his father's place as ruler of the city and kingdom. However, things did not go differently. Boromir joins the Fellowship of the Ring, stays with them until they reach Rauros Falls, and then tries to steal the One Ring from Frodo Baggins. A short time later, he gets turned into an oversized pincushion by either one (movieverse) or many (bookverse) Orcish archers. Then he dies.
