  • Back when the Province was known as the Principality of Northumbria (ノーザンブリア大公国 Noozamburia Taikoukoku?), an unknown object referred to as the Pillar of Salt (塩の杭 Shio no Kui?) suddenly fell from the sky and descended upon the Haliask Capital one morning. The mysterious object remains 3 days in silence. After that, everything in the vicinity of the capital into salt, covering 3 districts and diminishing 1/3 of the population. The object was eventually recovered by the Grails Ritter, and secured by the Septian Church as a forbidden artifact for research. It was clear that anything that touches the object at direct proximity would turn anything into salt. The Church congregation decided to utilize its fearsome properties into a weapon, only to be used once for the most deviant opponent. After the incident, a parliament to reinstate the principality was established, but the Archduke fled the land during that time. In the following year, the citizen reformists overthrown the archduke royalty and Northumbria was reacknowledged as a sovereign state. The major changes however after the state's reform were a financial crisis and the escalating harsh and cold climate. The conditions have hardly improved since then, and the struggling citizens had to adjust their living by aggressive means. The Official Army established themselves as the the state's guardian force, while more than half ended up joining the "Northern Jaegers" corps thriving on foreign funds.
