Mark Cohen was a Jewish Corporal in the United States Marine Corps who like all the other Marines in his unit and along with Bill Atlas vanished without a trace. As a result, the Marine Corps listed them as deserters. | - Mark Cohen was a Jewish Corporal in the United States Marine Corps who like all the other Marines in his unit and along with Bill Atlas vanished without a trace. As a result, the Marine Corps listed them as deserters. However, in early May 2004, his body which was almost unrecognizable was later found chained to a wall in Old Town, Alexandria by the Alexandria Police Department who later informed NCIS of the development. Due to the fact that it was a cold case with a Marine as the victim, the NCIS Major Case Response Team led by Leroy Jethro Gibbs took over full running of the case and were eventually successful in arresting the person responsible which also resulted in the case finally being solved.
