Attacks occurred all over Baltusia, but one of the most memorable was the attack at the Capitol Building. 29 councilors were murdered in the attack. 37% of the Council was murdered. One of those dead was Deputy Leader Peg Itkin. Following her tragic death, Truss appointed a new Deputy Leader. However, he initiated a long and crucial process to finding a new deputy leader. He interviewed 85 people. After the initial interviews, he selected 17 finalists. There were 12 men and 5 women. The list then dropped to 7 people, 4 men and 3 women. After grilling all 7 candidates, Truss finally announced that Marco Fazio had been selected as the new Deputy Leader. In the 2630 elections, Truss won nearly 60 million votes in his bid to become Praetor. However, he came short in his bid and won 44.39%. However, the party gained 15 seats to the BPA's 13. This brought the Democrats to 33 seats to 42. At the April 2632 Party Congress, Truss and Fazio were elected unopposed. Truss comissioned a poll in July 2632. The poll suggested that Truss would win 45.3% in the vote for Praetor. Truss urged supporters to get out the vote. Also, to make the election for control of the Senate more interesting, Truss announced he would resign the leadership if he failed to win over 46 senate seats. The party's fortunes changed after the 2632 elections in which Truss was defeated in his bid for Praetor for a second time. Also, the party only won 43 seats, 3 less than what he wanted.
