Periklymeneus was a son of Neleus (the son of Poseidon) and Khloris. Periklymenus was one of the Argonauts. Periklymenus' grandfather, Poseidon gave him the ability to shapeshift into various animals. At Pylos Periklymenus met his end fighting Herakles. One of the shapes he took was a swarm of bees but failed to defeat Herakles. In a final effort Periklymenus tried to escape by taking the form of an eagle but in the end Herakles killed him. His children were Erginus and Penthilus.
