A Pulse Gun is a weapon that generates massive amounts of pulse waves and launches them as a single, concentrated projectile. Using the same dynamics as Pulses for star ships but on a smaller scale, Pulse Guns are hand-held weapons used by common foot soldiers.

- Pulse guns are a class of weapons which fire a variety of particles, encased in spherical force fields, commonly magnetic fields, although for more exotic technology, other kinds of fields may be employed. Pulse guns are often found with at least two firing modes, one of which is the 'pulse' mode, and the other is the 'stream' mode, in which the weapon functions as a raygun, firing its particular charge encased in a cylindrical (or even a conal) field, projecting a beam rather than separate pulses. While in anti-personnel duty, employing anything but kinetic weapons may seem redundant, pulse guns have several advantages - as the 'ammunition' consumed by these weapons when firing is purely energetic, much larger amounts of shots worth in supplies can be transported in mobile field units, allowing single infantry to operate for extended periods of time without compromising fire output or mobility. This is, of course, limited by the energy capacitor technology available to a particular faction or unit. Secondly, in an anti-armor role, energy weapons often excel over kinetic or explosive weapons, using exotic effects that interact with the matter of the target to destroy it, especially in portable implements - a rifle-sized weapon may be used successfully by individual soldiers to combat both infantry and armored vehicles without the need for a unit to carry further ATGMs. Likewise, the effect on body armor is greater than with regular bullets. Further, many particle weapons simply pass through solid matter, exacting their deadly toll on infantry covered behind. On the other hand, pulse weapons often have much shorter ranges than solid-matter projectiles, as energy fields and particle accumulations are inherently more unstable than baryonic matter, which is, obviously, the most stable form of accumulation in our universe. Further, unlike kinetic impacts, directed energy can be resisted with just the same method used to shape and accelerate it. Of course, shields against baryonic matter exist, too. All of these advantages and disadvantages would also, it seems, apply to rayguns.
