The crested waterfoul is a sea monster appearing in Might and Magic: The Shadowsmith. It had a spiny head, a coiling neck, and an elongated tail. It was related to the river serpents, but much larger and far more dangerous. When attacked, it would hiss "with a sound like lava flowing into the sea", and could produce a purple, oily poison. The poison was deadly on contact with humans, but alters could survive it, if they were prepared.

When Diligence's caravan were sailing on the river Gaughan on their way back to The Wheel, they spotted a sinking boat being attacked by a waterfoul. After driving the creature away with a few volleys from their powershots, they sent their alter out to rescue the boat's only occupant, a young woman who called herself Eil do Mer.
