| - The World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh (), the leading forum to ensure that the Pittsburgh region has a dynamic international presence, is pleased to announce the appointment of Angélica Ocampo as its next President and CEO. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Worldfund, a New York-based organization that supports teacher development in Mexico (also known as ) File:Flag of Mexico.svg and Brazil (also known as ) File:Flag of Brazil.svg . Ocampo will relocate to Pittsburgh to begin her role, effective November 16, 2015. “Angélica brings broad experience, global perspective and demonstrated leadership to the Council,” says N. Cabot Earle, Jr., Executive Vice President at Microbac Laboratories, and chair of the search committee. “Her skills uniquely position the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh to facilitate the critical conversations and educational programs necessary to help our students and young adults compete and contribute on the global stage.” “Angélica’s success in designing and leading public/private partnerships and her ability to engage others around the importance of global citizenship will contribute significantly to the Council, our city and region,” said Audrey Russo, the Council’s Chair and President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Technology Council. “For more than 80 years the World Affairs Council has played a key role in promoting Pittsburgh’s global identity, a role that becomes ever more relevant as the city continues to grow its international reach," said Ocampo. “I am truly honored to join the World Affairs Council and excited about the possibilities that lie ahead, both for the Council and for Pittsburgh.” Born and raised in Argentina, Ocampo earned a B.A. in Political Science from Universidad Católica Argentina and a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs from Columbia University. She has received scholarships from the Fulbright Foundation and from the University of California. During her distinguished career in the private sector, Ocampo maintained her commitment to public policy, social issues and the non-profit sector. Ocampo was a senior communications executive with extensive experience designing strategy and leading regional communications teams for multi-national corporations in Latin America. She has held senior positions, including Head of Public Affairs at HSBC Argentina and Director to Foster Civil Society; she co-founded Grupo Sophia, an Argentine think tank focused on public policy; and served as Vice President of Fundación Impulsar, the Argentine branch of Youth Business International. She has lived and worked in Argentina (also known as ) File:Flag of Argentina.svg , Colombia (also known as ) File:Flag of Colombia.svg and the United States (also known as ) File:Flag of the United States.svg. At Worldfund, Ocampo manages a team of 25 and reports to a multi-national board. The organization works in partnership with local governments and brings private corporations to the table to invest resources and expertise. Since its founding in 2002, Worldfund has invested more than $16 million in education programs, and trained more than 4,500 principals and teachers in the public schools in Mexico and Brazil.
