* The title is a reference to the novel and film No Country for Old Men.
* The "vaguely Hanna-Barbera looking" rhino that Peter ties to his luggage is intended as a parody of Peter Potamus.
* Carter refers to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis's marriage to Aristotle Onassis when he claims to have gotten to sleep with her before she was "defiled by that hairy olive-eater."
* The way Carter acts around Reginald, saying "What are we going today, Reginald?" and "You and me is pals, ain't we, Reginald?" is referencing the relationship between Warner Bros. characters Spike and Chester.
* During the scene where Reginald is shooting at Michael Stipe, Carter says "That's him in the corner" and "That's him in the spotlight", a reference to the song "Losing My Religion" by R.E.M., of which Stipe used to be a part of.
