His master had given his progress high praise, but naturally kept an eye on him. Lael was ready to become a Jedi Knight at the Clone War's end, and was knighted shortly before Order 66. While his master did not survive the resulting Jedi Purge, he did. He participated in the Hunt for Sion, but was killed by the Devourer of Souls.

His master had given his progress high praise, but naturally kept an eye on him. Lael was ready to become a Jedi Knight at the Clone War's end, and was knighted shortly before Order 66. While his master did not survive the resulting Jedi Purge, he did. So the Jedi Knight went into hiding, utilizing the underground railroad that sympathizers had established for he and his kind. During this time in exile, he learned many concepts of Soresu from various masters and knights he met along the way. He also developed a mastery for Form II. Lael emerged from hiding when he learned that the Empire was defeated over Endor. It was not long until afterwards he had taken up his own apprentice, Zeke Nital. Eventually, the two gathered with the New Jedi Order on Midpoint Station, traveling to Onderon after the location for the Jedi Praxeum was determined, and relocated to the City of the Jedi shortly after the Xen'Chi attacked. They would later eventually join the growing ranks of the Guardians of Life. He participated in the Hunt for Sion, but was killed by the Devourer of Souls.
