The Treaty of Malta was the peace treaty signed in Birkirkara, Malta on 9 October of 1799, that ended Britain's involvement in the French Revolutionary Wars. Great Britain will withdraw from the French Revolutionary Wars and recall all deployed soldiers and vessels from the Middle East and continental Europe. Britain must recognize Malta as a French colony and not a independent nation. In exchange for withdrawing from the French Revolutionary Wars and recongization of Malta as a French colony, France will recongize Great Britain's ownership of Gilbraltar and the right of the Royal Navy to control the amount of sea traffic coming in and out of the Strait of Gilbraltar.
