The Free Market Party of Jerna was formed in September 2013, due to a split in the Nationalist Party of Jerna that occurred when some in the NPJ felt that the Party was taking a line that was much too xenophobic for their liking. In response, they broke away from the NPJ and formed the Free Market Party. The Free Market Party advocates complete government non-interference in the free market, arguing that the 'invisible hand' of market economics will guide resources to where they are needed, and speed up development, bringing prosperity to all. As such, it is strongly opposed to the command economy system preferred by the People's Socialist Party. In the most recent elections in the Republic of Jerna, the Free Market Party won just six seats in the People's Assembly.
