The State Archives of Avellino, Italy, are located in the former Bourbon prison in the city. Its origins go back to the 14th century. It was set up by Law n. 1379 of 12 November 1818, which provided for the creation of provincial archives in the Kingdom of Two Sicilies. Following the Royal Decree of 22 September 1932, n.1391, became Provincial Archives of state and changed its name to the State Archives section with the enactment of the Law of 22 December 1939, n. 2006. He became, finally, the State Archives through the Presidential Decree of 30 September 1963, n. 1409.
