Established before the days of Nicator and Seleucar, this city has, for eons, been isolated from the rest of Sapience, until a terrible event exposed them to the outside world.

- Cyrene of Amphipolis was a recurring character on Xena: Warrior Princess. She was the mother of Xena, Lyceus and Toris. She owned the tavern in Amphipolis. Cyrene was very close with her children and was deeply saddened upon the death of her youngest, Lyceus. She blamed Xena for his death, as it was her that made him defend the vilalge against an attacking warlord, Cortese. She banished Xena from Amphipolis and Xena set out on a destructive and violent lifestyle. However, after Xena had seen the error of her ways, she returned to her village and her mother to warn them of another warlord, Draco, attemtping to to take the village. Cyrene continued to act cold towards her daughter, until she witnessed Xena save Amphipolis and subsequently decided to reconcile with her.
- Cyrene was once an Imperial Civilised World of Sub-sector Aurelia, in the Korianis Sector of the Segmentum Ultima. The planet was used as a source of recruits for the Blood Ravens Chapter of Space Marines. Shortly before the events on the world of Tartarus in Dawn of War, Cyrene was subjected to an Exterminatus action by order of the commander of the Blood Ravens' 3rd Company, Captain Gabriel Angelos, after the seed of heresy was discovered within the planet's population. Angelos had been on Cyrene to conduct his Chapter's Blood Trials which were intended to identify and induct new Aspirants into the Blood Ravens.
