abstract	The Registrar attended to Roy Cropper when he registered the birth of Patience Cropper in February 2004, complementing her on her beautiful handwriting when she gave him a copy of the certificate and paying her £3.50 for it. The mother of the baby, Tracy Barlow, had conned Roy into thinking that he has the father of the child after Tracy drugged him and claimed she’d slept with him in order to win a bet with Bev Unwin. The Croppers had then bought the baby for £25,000. When Tracy realised she had feelings for her child, she revealed that Steve was the father and that the Croppers had no legal claim on her, demanding her back. When the distraught Croppers relinquished their hold on her, Tracy changed the name to one of her choice - Amy Barlow.
