The Type-30 Orbital Drop Sensor Beacon was a special use equipment designed and produced by the Mikaru Corporation. The Device was primarily a large metal shell designed to survive atmospheric entry and high speed impact on the ground. Once the unit hits the ground it buries itself 7 feet in via impact velocity, then, once secured it would deploy. A 7 foot stalk would rise up out of the inside of the pod, and open up, revealing a sensor, satellite uplink, positioning lights, emergency flares, and a small droid brain that operated all the equipment and its defensive rotary blaster.

The Scanner's flares and beacons were activated by a switch on the side of the unit, that only friendly personnel could approach. they were used to signal pickups of personnel and the probe from inside enemy territory. The sensor had a range of 1000km, and could operate underwater with passive and active sonar. The automated blaster could deal with vehicles with very light armor and personnel, but was not meant to take care of Armored vehicles.
