The main advantage is the higher rate of fire that many slugthrowers can achieve as well as an extended range as projectiles tend not to dissipate over distance like energy bolts. The Decuu AR17-A3 "Valkyrie" Ballistic Rifle is typical of many modern day military slugthrower rifles in that it packs an extremely hard punch, high rate of fire and a range equivalent to the standard light repeating blaster. The AR17-A3 can easily be equipped with one of several scopes ranging from a simple hunter's scope to a military sighting macroscope as well as a large silencer making it suitable for sniper work. It may also be outfitted with several under-barrel attachments including micro-grenade launchers, grenade launchers or even a heavy slug launcher. The AR17 was originally designed to be modular in nature to allow it to fit into almost any type of mission profile. The AR17-A3 model even features a new removable stock for close quarters combat.
