Murasaki 312 was three days away from Makus III at warp speed 1. (TOS: "The Galileo Seven" ) In 2367, the location of Murasaki 312 was labeled on a tactical situation monitor in Captain Benjamin Maxwell's ready room on the USS Phoenix. (TNG: "The Wounded" , okudagram) In 2368, the location of Murasaki 312 was labeled on a tachyon detection grid on one of the viewscreens of the USS Enterprise-D bridge.
* Negative Ionen-Konzentration 1,64 x 10 hoch 9
* Wellenlänge der Strahlung = 370
* Oberschwingungen im gesamten Spektrum In dieser Zeit ist die Enterprise unterwegs nach Makus III, um dort medizinische Vorräte abzuliefern. Da der Kurs nahe an Murasaki 312 vorbei läuft, wird das Shuttle Galileo mit einer siebenköpfigen Besatzung an Bord gestartet, um dieses Phänomen genauer zu untersuchen. Durch eine starke Strahlung versagt jedoch später das Shuttle, wodurch es auf Taurus II notlanden muss. Captain James T. Kirk führt darauf eine Bergungsmission durch, um nach den Überlebenden zu suchen. Kurz bevor Kirk die Suche abbrechen muss, entzündet Spock die Treibstofftanks des Shuttles im Orbit von Taurus II, damit die Enterprise auf das Shuttle aufmerksam wird. Darauf werden die Überlebenden an Bord der Enterprise gebeamt. (TOS: ) Im Jahr 2328 starten mehrere Flüge vom Midos-V-Satellite-City-Raumhafen nach Murasaki 312. Suzi Shimizu reist mit der SS Manoa, John Van Citters reist mit der SS Kogin und Dennis McCarthy reist zusammen mit Joe Bauer und David Anderson mit der SS Wisconsin nach Murasaki 312. - 100 años después, el USS Enterprise D realizó estudios con sensores de largo alcance de este fenómeno celeste.
- Encountered by the Enterprise in 2267, Murasaki 312 is a quasar like phenomenon of great size and power. Following their standing orders, the Enterprise investigated the anomaly and discovered that it had a negative ionic concentration at 1.64x109 metres and was emitting radiation at a wavelength of 370 Angstroms, with harmonics upward along the entire upper spectrum. The effect had ionized an entire sector, covering at least four solar systems in the vicinity of the ship. The effects of Murasaki badly compromised the performance of both communications and sensor systems across this region. The Enterprise launched a shuttlecraft to investigate the phenomenon, but the craft was disabled and dragged into the centre of Murasaki 312 where it crash-landed on Tarsus II. The shuttles crew were able to repair it sufficiently to launch again and make a brief orbital flight. Fortunately the Enterprise was still in the area and was able to recover those crew members who had survived the planet. Although Murasaki 312 began to dissipate somewhat as the Enterprise left, the anomaly continued to exist for at least the next century. In 2367 the Enterprise-D conducted some sensor scans of Murasaki 312 whilst passing by.
- By 2267, it had ionized an entire sector and four star systems, including the Beta Tauri system. An edge of the phenomenon was located about 130 light years from Earth. (ST reference: The Worlds of the Federation; TOS episode: "The Galileo Seven") On at least one format of star chart, an edge of this phenomena was in the general vicinity of Alpha Caranae. (TNG episodes: "The Wounded", "Yesterday's Enterprise", TNG reference: The Continuing Mission) In 2267, the USS Enterprise stopped off at the Murasaki quasar to investigate the anomaly per standing orders. However, as the Enterprise was due to deliver medical supplies to Makus III, they had little time to do so. When the shuttlecraft Galileo became lost near the quasar it was a race against time to find them. Just as they were forced to leave the area the Enterprise detected the Galileo in orbit around Beta Tauri's second planet. (TOS episode: "The Galileo Seven") In 2270 the Klingon Commander Kor decided to make use of the properties of the Murasaki 312 effect to ambush Federation civilian and Starfleet starships by putting a number of distress beacons in orbit around Taurus II to lure ships in and then ambush them with the task force under his command. A number of merchant ships as well as a Starfleet science vessel responded to the distress signals, the last being shot down over Taurus II by one of Kor's ships. Two starships were dispatched by Starfleet Command to investigate what happened to the missing vessels: the USS Enterprise and a starship under command by captain Isaac Garrett. After an away team led by captain Garrett's First Officer rescued the survivors of the science vessel on Taurus II the Klingon distress beacons were destroyed and his ship and the USS Enterprise confronted Kor and his task force, driving the Klingons off. (Star Trek Online Agents of Yesterday) In 2367, the USS Enterprise-D had conducted a long-range survey of Murasaki 312 whilst awaiting the transfer of Vulcan Ambassador T'Pel from the USS Zhukov. (TNG episode: "Data's Day") In the 2360s decade, this location was noted on a star chart showing deployment of Federation and Cardassian Union ships displayed in Captain Benjamin Maxwell's ready room aboard the starship USS Phoenix. (TNG episode: "The Wounded")
