  • Death Train is a 1987 film in the Martin Jones series, the fifth chronologically and the second of the new continuum started with 1985's The Vicar and the Virgin. The film starred Jim Ames, Sarah Northcutt, Rory Haggis and Sal Caparza, and was the third feature film directed by Al Gore. Death Train was an enormous financial success and cemented Gore as one of the premier directors in Hollywood. The film wound up becoming the highest-grossing film of 1987 and helped continue the upwards trajectory of the series begun with The Vicar and the Virgin to elite Hollywood status. The enormous success of the two first Ames films in the Jones series are widely attributed to the sacking of James Brolin as James Bond in the spring of 1987 shortly before production of The Living Daylights was to have begun.
