This decoration was used from the early years of the Republic, when the first large encounters mandated the creation of an award system. Since then, many soldiers, officers, commanders and other individuals were given this award. Some of the individuals who received this award were also included in the Museum of fallen heroes, a museum for the heroes of the Republic.
