The USS Westphalen (NCC-218) was a Daedalus-class Federation starship in service during the 22nd century. Launched in the 2170s, the vessel was named for Dr. Kristin Westphalen, a noted 21st century physician and scientist. Westphalen was lost in deep space sometime in the 2180s, and over the next two centuries she became something of a Starfleet legend. At least two 24th century vessels shared her name, the Oberth-class USS Westphalen (NCC-15691), and her Intrepid-class successor. (Star Trek: Pendragon: "The Argonaut Syndrome", "The Kraken", "Still Called Today")
