Nokobons are one of the most common enemies in Super Mario Land appearing in nearly all levels. Like Koopa Troopas with red shells, Nokobons do not walk off edges. In Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Nokobons are replaced by the original Koopa Troopas, and a new enemy Noko Bombette replaces the Nokobon, with their name paying homage to their predecessor.

Auch eine Verwandtschaft mit Bob-ombs wäre aufgrund der Explosivität nicht gänzlich ausgeschlossen.
