Phraxlamps were lamps used in the Third Age of Flight to illuminate the Phraxmines. They had to be calibrated to twilight brightness exactly, or mining Stormphrax would become dangerous: When they got to dark, the Stormphrax was heavier than ironwood and thus fell down on the heads of the minders. If it was too bright, the Stormphrax would be explosive. The Lamplighters like Nate had to calibrate the lamps every day to make sure nothing could happen.
