- The Battle of Chazwa was an Imperial assault on Chazwa to terrorize the populace and to divert New Republic attention away from the upcoming Battle of Nak Shimor. The Imperial fleet was led by Admiral Lex Sando who sought to destroy the capital with a powerful bombardment and kill as many as possible before retreating; his fleet arrived in system and engaged the Republic defenders, which were very light and sparsely armed. His fleet took up position in orbit and began bombarding the capital. Word of the attack reached Ackbar at Nak Shimor, several lightyears from Chazwa; Ackbar immediately set out towards Chazwa to defend it with his fleet. Arriving at Chazwa, he set out to divert the Imperials away from their bombardment. After thirty minutes of fighting, the Imperials were finally forced to retreat, but not before doling out heavy damage to the capital and killing many innocent civilians - the attack, as far as Sando was concerned, was a success. The Battle of Nak Shimor would occur less than a week later.
