Arabores were a species of aquatic rodents native to the harsh ice-covered planet Toola in the Outer Rim Territories. Usually growing between 2.6 and 2.8 meters in length, they fed mainly on fish and lived in groups known as pods, normally consisting of a single male, known as the bull, and between two and twelve females, known as cows. Each pod would inhabit a single fishing territory which the bull would defend viciously against intruders and competing bulls.Star Wars Adventure Journal 10

  • Arabores are a species of large, aquatic rodents indigenous to the planet Toola, a harsh ice world located in the Outer Rim Territories. They usually reach a length between 2.6 and 2.8 meters (8.53 to 9.18 feet). The species mainly subsist on a diet of fish, although it is supplemented by other food items as well, though these have gone unspecified. Due to their amphibious nature, their bodies have taken a sleek, aquadynamic shape yet are covered in layers of fat for insulation due to the harsh conditions of their snowball planet.

Great flat tusks protruded from a short snout on the rodent’s face which the bulls used to defend themselves. They were hunted occasionally by their planets native sentient species, the Whiphids, who were renowned hunters and were capable of killing them with just their hands and tusks . Normally a young Whipid hunter might kill a bull to prove himself as would newly elected Spearmasters, the title of the head elder of Whipid tribes.

They are a herd animal, grouping together around singular bodies of water in pods consisting of a single bull male and between 2-12 cow females. Males are highly territorial and used their great flat tusks, protruding from a short snout, to viciously defend their turf from intruders and competing bulls, possibly akin to hippopotamuses on Earth. The sapient Whiphids are known to occasionally hunt Arabores, traditionally utilizing just their hands and tusks. Young hunters often sought to prove themselves against bulls, as would any newly-elected tribal elder, known as Spearmasters.
