Hurricane Zelda was the last named storm of the hyperactive 2031 Pacific hurricane season and the first documented December major hurricane in the Eastern Pacific basin. Forming from a tropical wave on December 1, Zelda briefly underwent rapid deepening in anomalously warm waters caused by a strong El Nino. However, cool waters rapidly weakened the cyclone after peak.
