| - The 34th Flying Training Squadron, also known as the Garudas, was a UNSC Air Force pilot training unit based in Luxor Air Force Base, Eridanus II. The 34th was originally formed in 2492, after the massive insurrection on Far Isle caused many military leaders to believe many more pilots would be needed to combat the Insurrection. As a result, using the power of eminent domain, the Unified Earth Government seized several civilian airfields across the colonies, including the Luxor Region Airport, which became Luxor Air Force Base. In late 2492, the first aircraft, thirty total T-30 and T-76 trainers arrived at the base, along with thirty student pilots. Although the 34th was no different from any other squadron in its early years, by 2525, several of its graduates had received the Legion of Honor, and two had received the Colonial Cross. However, the 34th was not without scandals, the most major of which being in 2517, when a four-ship flight of pilot trainees practicing formation flying with one instructor pilot in the lead aircraft, broke off and disappeared, only to reappear on the side of the United Rebel Front. With the Human-Covenant War, the 34th began graduating pilots more and more frequently, and in 2532, when the Covenant attacked Eridanus II, the 34th armed their trainers, and, with the help of URF forces in a temporary ceasefire, held off the aliens from Luxor Spaceport, allowing tens of thousands to escape. In the aftermath, the UNSC awarded the Legion of Honor to every member of the 34th who had participated in the defense. The 34th was eventually reformed several times throughout the Human-Covenant War, and by 2557, was based out of Columbus Air Force Base, United Republic of North America, on Earth.
