- The winter wolf is fairly similar in habits to normal wolves. It hunts either solitary or in packs, in its desolate environment, searching for game. It has a good sense of smell, is stealthy, and is prized for its fur. It is distinguishable from other wolves, however, in that it has a breath weapon; it can breathe ice. This gives it an obvious advantage in combat. It also attacks with its teeth and claws.

- Winter Wolves are a magical variety of wolf which can be found in the wilderness south of Nashkel and on Ice Island. They are completely immune to cold damage and can breath ice at their enemies. Their DPS is high, but are otherwise not too difficult to kill on their own, even at low levels. Given their high experience value and Winter Wolf Pelt drops (which can be sold for 500Image:Goldpieces.png apiece at the Nashkel Store and 250 elsewhere), they're highly sought after.
- __NOEDITSECTION__ Winter Wolf is the master of survival in harsh conditions. His domain consists of some of the harshest land in the world, and there he has managed to live as a king. He is very in touch with the Wyld; his animal nature is strong and cunning. He is as fierce as any creature can be, yet knows when a hunt should be left to more foolish creatures. He teaches his children how to endure in harsh conditions, granting them added Stamina and two points of Survival. He also shows his children the Wyld within them, granting them an increased affinity with beasts both within and without. The greatest gift of Winter Wolf, however, is strength of will, which he shares with his children.
- The Winter Wolf, also known as the FrWOLF in the Nintendo Entertainment System version, is an enemy in the original Final Fantasy. Winter Wolves are the toughest of the wolf family, but they are very weak due to having zero Defense, making physical attacks extra powerful, not to mention having an elemental weakness to Fire. Given that they appear with other Ice-type monsters, a single Fira can easily defeat an entire group.
