Nenjutsu (念術, Lit. Thought Techniques) or Nen Tech are techniques powered by Nen, though they can only be accessed by those who have gone through the process of unlocking their Nen Nodes (念節点, Thought Node), whether it be through flooding their mind with Yin Chakra or simply possessing the ability to use the Psionic Arts. It has been discovered that some simply manifest the ability to utilize their Nen and Nen Tech, without any prior usage of either the Psionic Arts or Yin Release. These cases are rare and not many have been recorded.

It has been discovered that some simply manifest the ability to utilize their Nen and Nen Tech, without any prior usage of either the Psionic Arts or Yin Release. These cases are rare and not many have been recorded. This form of energy is highly based in the mental realm of techniques, though can be used to power techniques of its own as well as ones that require chakra. It is a powerful brand of energy, being able to overpower chakra in most cases, putting normal shinobi who pick fights with Nen user's at a sore disadvantage. Nen can be mixed with chakra in order to make more potent techniques, however it is unable to be absorbed through techniques that can absorb chakra, due to its fundamentally different make-up. Nen is most powerful when used in techniques that effect the mind, making that the plane of most Nen Tech. Nen Tech are capable of creating illusions upon the mind much like Genjutsu, but with one very simple yet extremely powerful difference: it does not enter one's chakra system in order to affect their mind. Nen-powered illusions drill directly into the center of one's mind, routing to all of their senses in order to fool a person into thinking that their illusion is reality. As such, Nen based illusions are unable to be broken by kai or by pain, and they are not able to be detected by Dojutsu, since they fool not only the senses but the mind itself. Nen can be used to project illusions onto reality and make them true, making it so that the user can change the world around them with a simple thought. While Nen is powerful, it is also plentiful, as a user's Nen will be instantly replenished as it is used. However, it is tied very heavily to the user's chakra despite being separate. Should the user be suffering from the effects of chakra exhaustion, they will find that they are unable to use their Nen at all until their chakra reserves are replenished.
