The 18th (Cradle) Marine Group was a UNSC Marine Group that served in the Human-Covenant War. It was first formed in 2529 and was disbanded in 2552 during The Second Battle of Reach, after taking huge casualties in The Battle of New Alexandria. After being disbanded, it was reformed into two divisions - the 717th 'Cradle' Marine Division and the 718th 'New Alexandria' Marine Division. The former escaped Reach with light losses, while the latter was destroyed.

The former escaped Reach with light losses, while the latter was destroyed. It was made of 30 Divisions, and contained a total of 510,000 servicemen and servicewomen when at full strength. It recruited from the Cradle Metropolitan Zone before it's glassing, and after that it recruited refugees from all of Earth's colonies.
