Guantanamo, Cuba is the largest city and county seat of Guantanamo County in Cuba, and is a major tourist destination due to its proximity to the nearby resort villages on Guantanamo Bay. The city has a population of about 290,000, most of whom serve in the tourism or service industry as well as traditional sugar cane and wool industries. The city and county have notoriously lenient gambling and drinking laws and the area is a popular destination for college students on spring break and is a year-round mecca for visitors. The private Guantanamo College is located within the city.
