The Township of Flamborough was created in 1974 through the amalgamation of the former Village of Waterdown and the Townships of Beverly, East Flamborough and West Flamborough. Three separate fire areas were amalgamated to create the new Flamborough Township Fire Department: * Beverly Township Fire Area No. 1, operating from Lynden. * Beverly Township Fire Area No. 2, operating from Rockton. * Waterdown Fire Area, operating from Waterdown, Freelton and Greensville. This fire area covered Waterdown, as well as East and West Flamborough Townships.
