About: Fleet Merging   Sponge Permalink

An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : 134.155.108.49:8890 associated with source dataset(s)

When an incoming fleet arrives on an astro with another fleet already in place (parked) the two fleets merge. Several things happen at this point. * Merging takes a couple of seconds. While it is happening you may not be able to access either fleet. * The incoming fleet ID, and any comments you have added to it, disappear. All that remains is the original fleet ID and comments. * The ship count numbers of the merged fleet become the total of the two merging fleets, and the fleet size grows to include the new ships. * Your total fleet count drops by one, allowing you to create a new fleet if you were at your limit. * The merged fleet's speed is that of its' new slowest ship *

It is therefor possible to turn two well structured fleets into a more venerable, poorly structured, "rainbow fleet"
