The first wave of the Young Avengers was created when Maria Hill decided the situation on Earth was dire enough it needed it's Avengers again. The original team was killed during a final stand to defend the country of Wakanda, one of the last strong holds upon Earth. As a result the Earth was missing it's most well known heroes for many years until the the situation began to leave many people in despair. Thus, Maria launched the new Young Avengers initiative, bringing in children of former heroes and Avengers to make up a new team. And so far, this new wave has brought upon some of the original Avengers' children to the forefront of the conflict and some from Avengers that joined later on.
