Richard M. Nixon was the 37th President of the United States. He was the only President to resign. His resignation stems from the scandal that originated at the Watergate Complex. He was known to make recordings of his conversations with the staff and one of those tapes had 18 minutes erased. What was on those minutes and where they went is supposedly in the Book of Secrets.

  • Richard M. Nixon was a citizen of the United States. He served as a 36th Vice President with Dwight D. Eisenhower, and he served as the 37th President of the United States. In 1953, Nixon was elected as Vice President as the running mate of Eisenhower. In 1988, Nixon was suggested as the name of Vixen 03 but the idea was shot down by Dirk Pitt stating that a mere transport plane wouldn't named after the Vice President.
  • Nixon rose to political prominence following his election as a Californian member for the House of Representatives, fully embracing all he'd learned from the state that gave the world Hollywood — namely the hubris, contempt for the law of the land, an aptitude for issuing the least sincere of apologies, and a pathological desire to force fuzzy little animals into any piece of media he released. With his expansion of American intervention in Vietnam, Nixon even provided a second exotic location full of loose women where a man could chase glory, blow all his hopes and dreams and wind up as a chronic alcoholic in downtown Los Angeles.
  • With the repeal of the 22nd Amendment and the suspicious murders of Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein (also thought to have been committed by The Comedian), who would otherwise have exposed the Watergate Scandal, Nixon is reelected repeatedly, and still serves as President in 1985. After the disaster, serious new candidates for the Presidency are mentioned (Robert Redford in the novel, Ronald Reagan in the film), which may suggest that Nixon will not run for a sixth term.
("Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country")
(Star Trek VI: Das unentdeckte Land)
  • At some point during his time in office, he greeted computer revolutionary Henry Starling, as well as successfully opening the door to China, becoming the first United States President to visit the Communist nation. (VOY: "Future's End"; Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country) He was central in the Watergate scandal, one of the events that Q considered to have made life on Earth in the past more interesting than in the 24th century. (DS9: "Q-Less")
