With Pit in a weaken state and his wings severly damaged after the fight with the Chaos Kin, Dark Pit was assigned to journey to the City of Souls so he could find the Rewind Spring. Along the way, Dark Pit encounters a creature known as the Soul-Eater Monster, most likely sent by Hades. It spotted Dark Pit and attempted to eat both him, and his soul. However, Dark Pit managed to shoot the Soul-Eating Monster enough to kill it.

- The Soul-Eating Monster shares some similarities with Gulper Eels. It is long and snake-like and has a large maw that houses several circular saw-like teeth. It has several eyes on its face, much like a large spider. On its back are several bulbous potrusions that apparently act as the beast's weakpoint. It has multiple tentacles along the sides of its body, and its tail appears to be made of several severed artery-like structures. It constantly releases energy through this structure, suggesting it may have originally been part of a larger being. It is largely a pinkish-purplish color.
