That answer is completely incorrect. My grandfather was a pharmacist back in Michigan during this time it was "created"; a gentleman who had a terrible cold at the time stopped in my grandfathers pharmacy and asked if he could suggest any cough medicine. During those times the pharmacists would create their own masterpieces of medicine and my grandfather was no exception. He gave this gentleman a bottle of cough medicine, within a couple days the man came back to the pharmacy to tell my grandfather it worked wonders. He asked what was in the cough medicine and my grandpa provided it as he wasnt out to make any $$ ...he just enjoyed helping others out. This turned out to be the medicine now known as Robitussin.
