In the meantime, Lyon added an additional player, Harold Schooley, a Canadian imported who had finished his season with Torino in the Italian Serie A, and had only been loaned for friendlies. This angered Chamonix, and led them to boycott the final game, feeling their superior record against the other three teams proved they deserved the league title (+38 as opposed to +32). However, Club des patineurs lyonnais was awarded the championship, the first and only title in their history.
