Dr Nicholls was a compensation doctor who interviewed Les Battersby in December 1998. Les had been admitted to Weatherfield General with osteomyelitis and had helped himself to more painkillers as Martin Platt had left the drugs trolley unlocked and unattended whilst attending to a patient who was suffering from a heart attack on the ward.
