St. Jerome (c. 347 - 30 September 420) was a Catholic priest from the Balkans region of Illyria in the Roman Empire. An prolific writer and theologian, Jerome is probably best remembered for translating the Bible in Latin. He is venerated by Christianity generally, and is a saint in the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Anglican denominations.
