After getting Roy Kapeniak to say that Michael Kern wrote an anti-Israel article during his college days, Frank Underwood alerts Mendel to the breaking story. When asked about the subject during a TV interview, Kern laughs nervously, prompting Mendel to condemn Kern, calling him an antisemite. (Chapter 2)
