Loceff left the show along with Surnow following the 2007 WGA strike, with "Day 7: 2:00pm-3:00pm" being the last episode he helped write. Aside from his television work, Loceff has been a professor of computer science at Foothill College in Los Altos, California for over thirty years. During his tenure on 24, he continued to teach class online part-time, scaling back his duties to devote attention to the writing process. In an interview, Loceff admitted to sneaking in references to his other career in a few episodes; in "Day 1: 2:00pm-3:00pm," Milo Pressman's network password is "foothill94022," in reference to the school and its zip code. Also, in "Day 2: 12:00pm-1:00pm," the volume Paula Schaeffer gives for the encryption key is "Etudes," a reference to the ETUDES open-source learning management system that Loceff wrote in 1994 and continues to be used by Foothill faculty.
