35mm film is the stuff that goes into real cameras, that take photographs that are actually worth printing, this is because a single frame of 35mm is about 22x larger than the sensor in a compact digital camera, this allows the photographer to take a photo of something while having the background out of focus, it also allows for much bigger enlargements. Digital SLR's on the other hand are quite good!
