In Oath Breaker, the ravens distract Auroch men from discovering Torak and Renn by mimicking redstart callings. The ravens' presence helps Renn in particular during her times of uncertainty, and Torak is able to understand their caws somewhat. While Wolf is jealous when the ravens gain attention from Torak, he learns to respect them as companions. During the final fight against Thiazzi the Oak Mage, Rip loses one of his tail feathers and grows a white one in its place. This earns him a great deal of respect from the Raven Clan. When Eostra's eagle owl kidnaps Wolf and Darkfur's final living cub Pebble in Ghost Hunter, Rip and Rek chase the owl to the Mountain of Ghosts and make it drop Pebble. Afterwards they help him stay alive until he's reunited with his parents, and they also save Renn from dying in a blizzard by leading Torak back to her. At the end of the series, the ravens join Torak, Renn and the wolves as they leave the clans to explore the Forest.
